Silver Gilt Trefid Anointing Spoon

Silver Trefid Spoon. 1634. The original silver-gilt spoon was made by Robert Wade II of Taunton, England. The initials on the seal on the top of the knop are LM above TW with the date 1634 between them. These have been engraved with the 'Dot-pricked' method of enhand engraving. The spoon was part of the Charlynch Hoard which was found at East Combe, near Taunton, in 1969. The hoard comprised of six spoons and may well have been concealed during the Civil War. 180mm long. The reproduction is sterling silver with gold plated knop and carries a London Hallmark. It is available singly or as a set of six, in fitted presentation cases. The set of six is available at £2920.00, ie, the sixth spoon is free.
